Accepting these terms
These terms cover your use of this website and the concrete work you hire All Star Duluth Concrete to do. When you browse the site, request a quote or book a job with us, you're agreeing to them, so please read them before you go further.
If your signed estimate or contract says something different from this page, the signed document wins for that job, because it was written for your house and your project.
What we do
All Star Duluth Concrete is a concrete contractor in Duluth, MN. We build driveways, patios, sidewalks, steps, garage floors, foundations and other flatwork, which is our word for flat concrete like slabs and walks, for homeowners in Duluth and the cities around it. You can see the full list of services on our home page and read more about our crew on our About page.
We're licensed and fully insured. The descriptions on this site are general, so they explain how this kind of work usually goes, not a promise about your particular job. What we'll do at your house is set out in your written estimate.
Estimates and pricing
We give free quotes on site, and there's no pressure to book. We come out because a slab's price depends on things we have to see, like its size, how much old concrete has to come out, the ground it will sit on and how easy it is to get a truck to the spot.
An estimate is based on what we can see and measure that day. Some things only show up once the old slab is out, such as soft or wet subgrade, which is the soil the new concrete sits on, buried roots or old fill. If we find something that changes the work or the price, we'll stop and talk it through with you before we do anything extra, and we won't charge for added work you haven't agreed to.
A written estimate holds for the time stated on it. After that, material prices may have changed, so we may need to update it.
Scheduling, weather and cancellation
We'll give you a start date when you book, but concrete depends on the weather. Rain, freezing temperatures or ground that's too wet can make a pour weak or rough on top, so we'll move the date rather than pour in bad conditions, and we'll let you know as soon as we can.
If you need to cancel or move your job, call us at (218) 241-4178 as early as you can. Once concrete, forms or other materials have been ordered for your job, you may be responsible for those costs as set out in your estimate or contract.
After the pour, the slab needs time to cure, which is the wait while concrete hardens and gains its strength. We'll tell you when it's safe to walk and drive on it, and following that timing is part of protecting the work.
Payment
Your estimate or contract lists the price, any deposit and when each payment is due. Some jobs need a deposit before we order materials, because concrete and supplies are bought for your project.
Payment is due when your contract says it is. If a payment is late, we may pause work or hold off on scheduling the rest of the job until it's settled, and we'll talk with you first.
Warranty and what concrete can and can't do
Any written warranty for your job is the one in your contract, and it covers only what it says. Beyond that, this website and its information are provided as they are, without other promises.
Concrete can crack even when it's built right. We cut control joints, which are grooves that give the slab a planned place to crack, so cracks follow lines we chose instead of running across the surface. Small hairline cracks along those joints are normal and aren't a defect.
We aren't responsible for damage caused by things outside our work, such as use before the slab has cured, heavy equipment it wasn't built for, changes to drainage or grading made after we leave, or ground movement from causes we couldn't see or control.
Limits on our liability
As far as the law allows, All Star Duluth Concrete's responsibility for any claim tied to a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job. We aren't responsible for indirect losses, like lost use of your driveway during the normal curing time or costs you choose to take on while work is underway.
Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under Minnesota law that can't be waived.
Settling a disagreement
If something isn't right, tell us first. Most problems get fixed fastest when the owner comes out and looks at the slab with you, so call us or reach us through our Contact page and we'll set a time.
If we can't work it out between us, we both agree to try mediation, which means a neutral person helps us reach an answer, before either of us goes to court.
Which state's law applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, where our business is based. Any court case about them or about our work will be handled in the state courts in Minnesota that serve Duluth.
For jobs outside Minnesota, such as in Superior, WI, local building rules where your house sits still apply to the work itself.
Changes to these terms
We may update this page from time to time. The version posted here when you book applies to your job, and your signed estimate or contract still controls where it's more specific.
If you have a question about any of this, call (218) 241-4178 or use the form on our Contact page. We're available Mon–Fri: 7 AM–10 PM, Sat–Sun: 8 AM–9 PM, and we reply within 1 business day.
