A Duluth concrete contractor since 2017
All Star Duluth Concrete is a concrete contractor based in Duluth, MN, and I started it in 2017 after learning the trade on small slabs and walks, then on job sites. We're licensed and fully insured, and I come out to look at every job myself and work the pour alongside our crew. We offer 16 kinds of concrete work, with pages for Duluth, Superior, Hermantown and Cloquet and jobs in other cities around the area. You can read more about us and how we work.
Concrete work we do around Duluth
We pour driveways, patios, walks and steps, plus the floors, lots, footings and foundations that homes and small businesses need. Size, base work and finish set the price, permits and weather set the schedule, and your written estimate spells out what's included.
A new driveway on a base we dig out and pack so it carries your car. Pick a broom finish, a swept texture for grip, or a decorative border.
A patio slab sized for how you'll use the yard, sloped so rain runs away from the house instead of toward it. Plain gray, colored or stamped all work here.
Concrete pressed with a pattern while it's still wet, so it looks like stone, brick or slate. If the budget's tight, I'd rather keep the base right and pick a simpler pattern.
Walks to your door or across the yard, with control joints, shallow cuts that tell the slab where to crack. You choose straight lines or a curve.
A garage floor with rebar, steel that ties the slab together, pitched toward the door so snowmelt drains out. You decide on a sealer or a plain finish.
Color, scoring, borders and exposed stone that make plain concrete match your house. You can dress up a whole slab or just the edges, which keeps the cost down.
Poured walls that hold back a slope and keep the yard from creeping onto the driveway or toward the house. Height and drainage behind the wall decide how we build it.
Floors for basements, shops and commercial spaces, finished smooth to use as is or ready for flooring on top. Tell us what will sit on it so we plan the thickness.
A deck around your pool with a textured top so wet feet keep their grip, and sloped so water runs off. Pick a broom, stamped or lighter colored finish.
Front and back steps formed so each rise is the same height, which keeps people from catching a toe. We can pour them with a new walk or alone.
A slab that's both floor and foundation for a garage, addition or outbuilding, poured on a packed base with rebar. We sort out the permit side with you before we dig.
Poured foundation walls for new homes, additions and commercial buildings, built on footings and tied together with steel. I go over your plans and the site before anything gets priced.
Concrete lots and entrances for small businesses, graded so water runs off instead of pooling. We can pour in sections so part of the lot stays usable while we work.
The concrete base under walls, posts and additions that spreads the weight into the ground. We dig them to the depth and size your plans call for.
Lifting and leveling a settled foundation or slab, and fixing what let it drop, usually water or a soft base. I'll tell you plainly if replacing makes more sense than raising.
Clean saw cuts through slabs, walls and floors for doorways, drains or taking out a damaged section. Cutting just the bad piece can cost less than replacing the whole slab.
How your concrete job comes together
Call or send a message
Call (218) 241-4178 or use our contact form, and we'll get back to you within one business day to set up a visit. Tell us roughly what you want poured and where, so I come ready.
I walk the site with you
I come out myself, look at the ground, the drainage and access for the trucks, and ask what you're after. You then get a free written estimate that spells out what's included and what isn't, with no pressure to book.
Permits, prep and the pour
Once you say go, we line up any permits and a pour date, then we dig out and pack the base, and I'm on the pour with our crew. You leave with care steps for the first winter, because that season shows up for years.

Common concrete questions in Duluth
Will my new concrete driveway crack like the old one?
It can crack, but we set it up to crack where we choose. We dig out and pack the subgrade, the ground the slab sits on, and cut control joints early so a crack runs down the joint instead of across the slab. Most old slabs we see cracked from a raked base or joints cut late or skipped.
How long before I can drive on a new concrete driveway?
You can walk on it well before you can drive on it, and I'll tell you both days for your pour. Curing, the slow hardening that gives concrete its strength, depends on the mix and the weather, and we avoid midday heat so the top doesn't dry weak. Park on it too early and the slab pays for it.
Should I spend more on the base or finish of a patio?
Put the money in the base. It's hidden on day one, so it's the first thing people want to cut, but a slab on raked dirt settles with that dirt and takes any pattern down with it. I'd rather pour a plain broom finish on a packed base than a stamped one on soft ground.
Do I need a permit for concrete work in Duluth, MN?
It depends on the job, and we check before we schedule. In Duluth, the city's Construction Services & Inspections office issues building permits, and foundation repair is on its list of work that needs one. Either the owner or a licensed contractor doing the work gets the permit, and we apply when we're the contractor. Starting before it's issued doubles the fee.
